KOTA BHARU: Tan Sri Razarudin Husain announced that 9,602 police officers and personnel will assist in the upcoming six-state elections. The Internal Security and Public Order Department will coordinate the deployment.
“A total of 9,602 personnel members will be deployed, with almost 2,000 assisting in Kelantan and Selangor, Terengganu (2,048) and Penang (663). Their role is to safeguard ballot boxes and ensure the safety of voters,” said Razarudin at a press conference held at the Kelantan police headquarters on Sunday (July 16), accompanied by Kelantan police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun.
In preparation for the state polls, the police have identified 16 hotspots in Kelantan to anticipate any potential incidents. “We have been conducting Op Cantas since May and have identified individuals or groups that may cause chaos,” added Razarudin.
However, based on the briefing, Razarudin is optimistic that the state election will run smoothly and assures the public that it is safe for voters to go out and cast their ballots. – Bernama
