PETALING JAYA: After scrutinising the state elections results and reports, PAS is not ruling out the possibility of filing a petition in the near future, says Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan.

However, the party’s secretary-general did not reveal which seats the petition would be filed against.

“PAS and Perikatan Nasional are committed to continue the agenda and best service for the people in the states under Perikatan rule,” Takiyuddin said in a statement on Monday (Aug 14).

“At the same time, PAS will play its role as a responsible and constructive Opposition in Penang, Selangor and Negri Sembilan,” he said.

Takiyuddin also thanked the 3.3 million voters who voted for Perikatan candidates in the six state polls, which allowed the coalition to secure 146 out of the 245 seats contested.

“Perikatan had successfully defended three states namely Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu with votes and with more than a two thirds majority,” he said.

He said Perikatan had also achieved an impressive success in Penang, Selangor and Negri Sembilan, which was controlled by the Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional unity pact.

Selangor, Penang, and Negri Sembilan remained under the unity pact while Kedah, Kelantan, and Kedah remained under Perikatan rule.
