SEMENYIH: Perikatan Nasional’s Nushi Mahfodz emerged as the winner of the state seat in Semenyih after receiving 36,068 votes in the recent state polls. Nushi defeated Wan Zulaika from Barisan Nasional with a majority of 1,262 votes.
The 48-year-old Selangor PAS information chief had previously contested the Sungai Ramal parliamentary seat in 2018, and this victory marks a significant milestone in his political career.
Due to his presence at the gathering of Perikatan members in Shah Alam, Nushi was represented by his 19-year-old son, Afif Afwan, and his 42-year-old younger brother, Ahmad Najdan, at the vote counting centre in Kompleks MPKj at Setia Ecohill, Semenyih.
Returning officer Norazman Abd Rahim announced the official results at the vote counting centre, declaring Nushi as the winner of the Semenyih seat.
“This victory is a source of pride for our family, particularly for my father, Mahfodz Mohamed, who also holds a position in the PAS central committee,” said Ahmad.
Ahmad expressed his belief that Nushi’s success in Semenyih is a continuation of his father’s contributions in the political arena. He highlighted his father’s experience and support during Nushi’s campaign trail in Semenyih.
“After retiring, my father entered politics and has been nominated as a candidate in elections on four occasions,” Ahmad explained.
In response to his victory, Nushi expressed his gratitude to his supporters through a social media post. He emphasized the importance of maintaining love and brotherhood through constructive dialogue and pledged to play a positive role in improving the lives of the community.
