KLANG: A purported Selangor PKR candidate list is circulating, revealing that a significant number of inexperienced candidates will be participating in this year’s elections.
According to the list, 12 out of the 20 candidates are new names, indicating a fresh wave of individuals entering the political arena.
Out of the remaining candidates, seven are incumbents, while one candidate named Juwairiya Zulkifli has been relocated from her previous Bukit Malawati constituency to Bukit Antarabangsa.
If these reports are accurate and the current Bukit Antarabangsa incumbent successfully defends his seat, Juwairiya will be facing off with former Selangor mentri besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.
Contrary to previous speculation that Umno would secure the Kota Damansara constituency, it seems that the seat will remain with PKR, with one Mustafa Kamil Ayub set to contest there.
Interestingly, the list omits the Port Klang constituency, which could potentially be handed over to Umno for their Klang division chief, Zainuri Zainal, to contest.
Several candidate changes have been made in constituencies where the incumbent has moved on to become an MP, such as Batu Tiga, where incumbent Rodziah Ismail won the Ampang parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election (GE15).
According to the list, caretaker Selangor mentri besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari will be defending his Sungai Tua seat.
Another notable absentee from the list is exco member and incumbent Kajang assemblyman Lee Hoy Sian.
As mentioned earlier, Bukit Lanjan incumbent Elizabeth Wong is being replaced by Loh Ker Chean.
Party sources revealed that Wong had expressed her unwillingness to contest in the upcoming state election.
However, it is important to note that the authenticity of the circulating list should be taken with caution, as last-minute negotiations and changes often occur right up until the official announcement.
There is always the possibility that the list being circulated is a decoy, intended to mislead or divert attention from the actual candidates.
