Perikatan Nasional has stated that a widely circulated claim that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong had agreed to grant an audience to 118 MPs is false.
The office of Opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin has confirmed that the statement allegedly issued by the Perikatan secretary-general is not authentic.
Blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin had previously asserted that the Opposition had collected 123 statutory declarations from MPs who supposedly had lost confidence in Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
However, Umno supreme council member Datuk Lokman Adam has discredited this claim.
On December 30, Community Communications Department deputy director-general Datuk Ismail Yusop alleged that a plot to overthrow Anwar’s Madani government was being organized by Perikatan leaders and government backbenchers who were on vacation in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
