STOCKHOLM, July 9 (Xinhua) — A massive gathering of thousands of demonstrators was seen in central Stockholm on Sunday, as they came together to protest against the recent burning of the Quran in Sweden.
The protest took place on a square near a prominent mosque, which had become the site of this controversial act on June 28.
The Swedish Police reported a crowd of approximately 3,000 participants during Sunday’s demonstration, as per Dagens Nyheter (DN) newspaper. Expressing his concerns, Mustafa Issa, the chairman of the United Islamic Associations of Sweden, the organization responsible for organizing the protest, emphasized that the burning of the Quran should be considered as an act of hate speech and should not be tolerated.
