PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued thunderstorm warnings for ten states until 6pm on Monday (Oct 14).
In a statement Monday, MetMalaysia forecast that bad weather conditions will affect Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Negri Sembilan.
Sabah and Sarawak have the most areas affected.
“Expect thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds over these states,” it said,
In Peninsular Malaysia, areas affected are Perak (Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim); Kelantan (Jeli and Kuala Krai); Terengganu (Dungun and Kemaman); Pahang (Jerantut, Maran and Kuantan); Selangor (Hulu Selangor, Gombak, Petaling, Hulu Langat and Sepang); Kuala Lumpur; Putrajaya; Negri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban and Kuala Pilah).
While in Sarawak, the areas are Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Betong (Saratok and Kabong), Sarikei (Sarikei), Mukah (Tanjung Manis), Bintulu (Bintulu), Miri (Subis and Miri) and Limbang; Sabah: Interior (Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort and Nabawan), West Coast (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran and Kota Belud), Tawau (Tawau), Sandakan (Kinabatangan and Sandakan) and Kudat, are affected.
Meanwhile, water levels at rivers in five states are at danger levels as updated at 4pm by Public InfoBanjir.
The rivers affected in Selangor is Sungai Bernam near Kampung Sungai Selisek.
In Perak, rivers affected are Sungai Perak at Kuala Kenderong, Sungai Bidor at Changkat Jong, and Sungai Slim at Slim River.
In Pahang, rivers affected are Sungai Mentiga at Chini.
In Kedah, rivers at danger levels are Sungai Perik at Kg. Perik, Sungai Anak Bukit at Taman Aman, Sungai Anak Bukit at Jambatan TAR and Sungai Ketil at Kuala Pegang.
While in Sarawak, three rivers have flood warnings, at Btg. Paloh at the Sungai Dausan (Mukah), at Btg Baram at Benawa and Marudi.
At danger levels, this means that the river level had risen till considerable flooding and evacuation should be initiated.
