According to George Town OCPD Asst Comm Razlam Ab Hamid, a man suspected of drug dealing died after falling from the 16th floor of a condominium in George Town during a police raid on Sunday (Jan 21).

The raid was prompted by a tip-off about alleged drug trafficking activities at the condominium received from the public. ACP Razlam stated that the suspect was startled to find the police at his door when they arrived, causing him to retreat into the unit and lock the grilles. They later discovered two other Nigerian nationals inside the unit after breaking in.

One of the suspects made an attempt to escape, but was apprehended on the 8th floor of the building. The raid unveiled various drugs, including ecstacy and syabu, and it was confirmed that the unit had been rented by the foreign nationals.

The police are still examining the immigration status of the individuals involved. ACP Razlam disclosed that the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
