KUALA LUMPUR: Table a motion of no confidence against the prime minister in the upcoming Dewan Rakyat, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim challenges the Opposition.
In a fiery speech during Himpunan Keadilan, the prime minister said that he urged the Opposition to do so to prove if he did not help the rakyat.
“We’re focused on doing our jobs. We want our economy to be formidable!
“If it was true that you want me to step down, table a motion of no confidence against me in the Dewan Rakyat next month,” he said on Friday evening (Sept 20) during the “Himpunan Suara Rakyat, Suara Keramat” held at the Axiata Arena here.
Anwar also said that his job has yet to be completed as there are still plights that need to be addressed, especially the cost of living.
Anwar, who is also Finance Minister I, said that the upcoming Budget 2025 will address issues pertaining to the cost of living.
“I know that there are still matters yet to be resolved, which is the high cost of living.
“Therefore, I hope that the upcoming Budget will be able to address that,” he added.
According to the organiser, about 10,000 attendees flooded the indoor stadium to celebrate the 26th anniversary of the Reformasi movement led by Anwar.
The event also reminisced the struggles faced by the party which started in 1998 — when Anwar was sacked as the Deputy Prime Minister.
