JOHOR BARU: Aznan Tamin, the Tanjung Surat assemblyman, has been appointed as a new state executive councilor. His swearing-in ceremony took place at Istana Bukit Serene’s Audience Hall on Tuesday (Feb 13) in the presence of Johor Regent Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim.
It is currently unclear what portfolio Aznan Tamin will be taking on as a state executive councilor, and whether this means any existing executive committee members will be dropped. An official statement from Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi is expected to clarify this soon.
Speaking on Sunday (Feb 11), Onn Hafiz Ghazi confirmed that there will be a reshuffle of the Johor executive committee after two years of his administration. He mentioned that the official announcement of the reshuffle of state executive committee is expected to be made by next week.
He added, “There will be a reshuffle of portfolios but it is only at a minimum level. We are doing this to make the state government affairs stronger.” During a Chinese New Year gathering with Chinese leaders at his official residence, Onn Hafiz also informed the crowd that he would be taking over the tourism portfolio.
“We just made slight changes to our portfolios. After this, I, as Mentri Besar, will take care of tourism,” he said.
