On December 1, the Tanzanian Prime Minister, Kassim Majaliwa, announced that the latest report on HIV/AIDS indicators in Tanzania revealed a continued decrease in new infections of the disease for individuals aged 15 and above. This statement was made during a public rally in the Morogoro region to observe World AIDS Day.
The Prime Minister’s Office released a statement highlighting the remarks made by Majaliwa. The report indicated that new HIV/AIDS infections among individuals aged 15 and above had declined from 72,000 people in 2016 to 60,000 people in 2023. Majaliwa emphasized the importance of protecting young people from acquiring new infections.
