MELAKA: A 39-year-old teacher, who tragically lost her infant son on Sept 6 at a childcare centre in Taman Kelemak, Alor Gajah, is determined to return to work, says Fadhlina Sidek.

The Education Minister said Sabrina Hakiem Zaini remains determined to return to her teaching duties at SMK Naning in Alor Gajah despite facing the heart-wrenching loss of her only son, Muhammad Al Fateh.

“Sabrina Hakiem is resolute in her commitment to begin her teaching role and has expressed her intention to resume work as usual.

“The Melaka Education Department will look into providing any psychosocial support or other forms of assistance when she resumes her duties,” said Fadhlina after visiting Sabrina Hakiem at her family home in Taman Kelemak Utama, Alor Gajah, on Monday (Sept 9).

The Education Minister spent nearly half an hour with Sabrina and her 39-year-old husband, Major Mohd Fikry Amri Abd Halim, offering her condolences and support.

On Sept 7, a 34-year-old childminder was remanded for seven days in connection with the alleged murder of the eight-month-old baby boy.

The suspect was detained by officers from the Melaka police headquarters at 3.30pm on Friday (Sept 6) at a nursery in Taman Kelemak Utama, Alor Gajah.

Muhammad Al Fateh was sent to the nursery by his mother and grandfather at 7am on Friday (Sept 6) before the victim was rushed to Alor Gajah Hospital two hours later after his nose began bleeding and his body turned blue. He later died.
