REMBAU: A man was taken into custody for reportedly assaulting his daughter with chairs and an ironing board, leaving her needing twelve stitches.
The victim, who is 17 years old, was attacked by her father in Kampung Kendong Baru, and a report of the incident was filed on Wednesday (Jan 24).
According to Rembau OCPD Dept Supt Hazri Mohamad, the victim was taken to Tampin hospital for treatment.
“The victim sustained injuries to her face, requiring 12 stitches, after being kicked in the stomach and receiving cuts,” he said. She also suffered injuries to her hand and right shoulder.
The suspect was apprehended on the same day, and it was discovered that he had seven prior criminal records, including drug offenses.
“The suspect is now in custody at the Rembau police headquarters as we conduct further investigations,” he said, adding that the suspect was believed to be intoxicated at the time of the assault.
The police will be seeking a four-day remand for the suspect.
“Efforts to locate the items used in the attack and witnesses who can provide assistance to the investigations are ongoing,” he added.
A video of the incident has been circulated on social media.
The video shows the suspect using various items, including a chair and a clothes basket, to assault the victim.
