At Bukit Jalil, Tenaga Nasional achieved a remarkable feat by clinching the treble with a 4-2 victory over Terengganu in the TNB Cup final of the Malaysian Hockey League (MHL).
Tenaga, the MHL champions, started the game aggressively at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil and earned two penalty corners within the first nine minutes, but they were unable to capitalize on them.
As a result, Terengganu seized the opportunity to launch a counter-attack and take the lead in the second quarter, thanks to Faizal Saari’s goal in the 10th minute.
The intensity of the game increased in the second quarter, with Tenaga’s Nik Aiman Nik Rozemi equalizing to keep his team in the match.
Nevertheless, Terengganu regained the lead when Akhimullah Anuar Esook scored a field goal in the 21st minute, beating Tenaga goalkeeper Hairi Abdul Rahman.
Before the first half ended, Tenaga responded swiftly through veteran Jang Jong-hyun’s conversion of a penalty corner in the 22nd minute, leveling the score at 2-2.
In the second half, Tenaga displayed hunger for more goals and benefitted when a shot deflected off Terengganu captain Sukri Mutalib into the net, making it 3-2 in favor of Tenaga.
Tenaga appeared to dominate the game, maintaining better possession than their opponents. Ultimately, Azrai Aizad Abu Kamal extended their lead to 4-2 before the final quarter.
