KUALA LUMPUR: Tengku Zatashah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Al-Haj has graced the Kechara Soup Kitchen’s (KSK) World Food Day 2024 Campaign launch at the Kechara Food Bank.
Having supported KSK since 2015, Tengku Zatashah continues her commitment as a royal volunteer for the organisation’s efforts.
KSK has dedicated 16 years to providing food and basic necessities to Malaysia’s homeless and underprivileged, serving all regardless of their backgrounds.
Marketing director Justin Cheah then thanked Tengku Zatashah for her pivotal role in connecting the organisation with food distributors.
“Her active involvement over the last decade has enabled us to partner with AEON for our programmes,” he said.
Her support has allowed KSK to grow its services to include the collection of surplus food from eateries and hospitality venues, thus enhancing their outreach.
KSK’s partnerships with Lotus’s Malaysia, AEON Co., and AEON BIG have led to the rescue of over four million kilograms of food, aiding over 180,000 individuals.
“We often overlook the food on our tables, which is a distant dream for some,” Justin added, aiming to highlight food security issues and encouraging nationwide efforts to combat hunger.
Azliza Baizura Azmel, Executive Director of Corporate Services at Lotus’s Malaysia spoke of their initial collaboration with KSK on a food drive at their Mutiara Damansara outlet.
“The positive response has led to ongoing daily food collections,” she said.
Edna Dasan, Senior Manager of the AEON Foundation, commended KSK’s work and looked forward to continued collaboration.
“We are delighted to contribute to their noble cause and are keen to explore more opportunities together to support communities,” Edna said.
