GENEVA (Reuters) – Former Wimbledon and French Open champion Simona Halep has had her four-year doping ban reduced to nine months by the top court for global sport on Tuesday. This ruling marks a significant victory for the Romanian former world number 1.
“The CAS Panel has unanimously decided to decrease the four-year period of ineligibility imposed by the ITF Independent Tribunal to a nine-month period starting on 7 October 2022, which ended on 6 July 2023,” the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) stated in a release.
