The Terengganu government has announced that Sunday, August 13, will be a public holiday in conjunction with the six state elections. Caretaker Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar stated that this decision was made to facilitate the return of the residents of Terengganu who are working in Kelantan, Kedah, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, and Penang to their respective polling areas. In a statement posted on Facebook on Friday, August 11, he added that the announcement also considers the workload of civil servants who will be assisting the Election Commission until late at night on polling day. He expressed his hope that the day off would provide convenience and comfort to everyone exercising their democratic rights on Saturday, August 12.
