Tragic news struck the Terengganu Sukma Games cycling team as their 22-year-old coach, Muhammad Muslim Marzuki, lost his life in a fatal accident during a training session on Sunday (Nov 12) at KM52 of Jalan Kuantan-Maran.
According to Kuantan OCPD Asst Comm Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu, the accident occurred around 10am as Muhammad Muslim, a native of Bandar Permaisuri, Terengganu, was trailing the team on a motorcycle from Kuantan to Temerloh.
“Preliminary investigations suggest that the victim lost control of his motorcycle, causing it to drift into the opposite lane and collide with a lorry,” he explained.
The collision, which took place near the Paya Bungor police beat, involved a 43-year-old lorry driver, and tragically, Muhammad Muslim was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body has been transported to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital for a post-mortem, while the case is being looked into under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. – Bernama
