ISKANDAR PUTERI: The third foreign national seriously injured in a fire that engulfed three warehouses in an industrial area here, has died.
Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan confirmed that the deceased, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at 12.50am on Monday (Oct 14).
“The post-mortem report indicates that the cause of death was severe burn injuries,” he said in a statement.
Three foreign workers were reported to have been critically injured in the blaze at the SiLC industrial area on Oct 10.
State Fire and Rescue Department deputy director Muhammad Al-Mustakin Abdul Hady said they were alerted to the fire at about 11.34am that day.
Out of nine foreign workers present, three sustained first-degree burns covering 30% of their bodies.
The first victim died around 10pm on Oct 11, while the second passed away at approximately 2.15pm on Oct 12.
ACP Kumarasan said the deceased were one man in his 30s and another in his 40s. Post-mortem examinations revealed that both victims died from severe burn injuries.
The case has been classified as a sudden death report.
