JOHOR BARU: The government has allocated more than RM100mil to upgrade three federal routes in Johor, with the completion expected by the end of 2025, according to the state’s exco Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh. As the Johor works, transportation, and infrastructure committee chairman, Mohamad Fazli also announced that the completion date for FT3 Mersing-Kota Tinggi has been moved forward to this year, thanks to the Federal Government’s agreement.

Mohamad Fazli revealed, “The government has allocated RM80mil for the four phases of upgrading work from FT1 Jalan Johor Baru to FT5 Jalan Pontian, which will be given under a performance-based contract.”

In addition, he mentioned that the government has set aside an additional RM100mil to complete three roads, namely FT1, FT3, and FT5.

Mohamad Fazli made these statements during a press conference held at the Mega Gerak Kerjaya MyFuture Jobs Johor event in the Arena Larkin Stadium on Saturday (July 15).

Apart from the federal routes, the Federal Government has also given its approval to accelerate the development of the North-South Expressway (PLUS) expansion and the overtaking lanes on the Senai Desaru Expressway (SDE) projects in Johor. This approval followed a meeting between Deputy Finance Minister 1 Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan and Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

Mohamad Fazli mentioned, “Based on the previous schedule, the PLUS project was slated to start in November next year but has been brought forward to February. Similarly, the SDE project was supposed to start in October next year but has been brought forward to October this year.”
