KUALA LUMPUR: Three additional reports regarding the alleged abuse of children at a childcare center in Bandar Sri Permaisuri, Cheras, have been received by the police as of Wednesday (Sept 6).

The Kuala Lumpur police chief, Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid, stated that these reports were made following a complaint lodged by a man on Monday (Sept 4) who claimed that his two-year-old daughter was subjected to abuse at the childcare center.

“To date, we have received four reports concerning the alleged abuse of children at the childcare center. We are currently awaiting the results of the medical assessments conducted on the alleged victims,” he informed reporters at the Kuala Lumpur Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) on Thursday (Sept 7), after attending a Traditional Chinese Medicine Health Treatment program.

He confirmed that the police had interviewed the parents of the alleged victims, as well as a woman who was detained on Monday under suspicion of abusing a girl at the same childcare center.

He also mentioned that the investigation files were almost finalized and would be submitted to the deputy public prosecutor for further legal actions to be taken.

Regarding the purpose of the program he attended on Thursday, Allaudeen explained that it aimed to introduce alternative treatments to police personnel.

“This initiative seeks to safeguard the well-being and health of the police officers and members serving at the Kuala Lumpur police contingent,” he added. – Bernama
