KUALA TERENGGANU: Three university students were killed while another was seriously injured in an accident after the motorcycles they were riding were struck by a car here on Wednesday (Oct 9).

The accident happened when the students, all from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Dungun Campus, were hit by a sports utility vehicle (SUV) while they were heading back from dinner, reported Sinar Harian.

Dungun Fire and Rescue Station chief Sharizal Shamsudin said the SUV crashed into the two motorcycles that the students were riding along Jalan Pantai Sura.

“The deceased have been identified as Khairil Anwar Jamaludin, Muhammad Akmal Md Tukirin and Ku Adib Aizad Ku Azmi while another student Muhammad Ammar Danish Mohammad Ridwan suffered serious injuries.

“We received a call regarding the incident at 7.26pm.

“Upon arriving at the scene of the incident, there were three vehicles involved in the accident, namely an SUV and two motorcycles.

“The driver of the SUV, a woman in her 40’s, sustained injuries during the accident.

“She was successfully removed from her vehicle by the public before we arrived at the scene of the incident,” he said.

Sharizal said the three students died at the scene while the injured student was taken to the Dungun Hospital for treatment.

Terengganu deputy police chief Datuk Wan Rukman Wan Hassan said the female driver who crashed into the four UiTM students is believed to be suffering from mental health issues.

He said one of the victims Muhammad Akmal, 25, was from Ayer Hitam, Muar, Johor while Ku Adib Aizad and Khairil Anwar, both 20, were from Selangor.
