The Foreign Minister, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, is set to embark on a working visit to Brussels, Belgium from Feb 1 to 3. This visit will see him attending the 24th Asean-European Union Ministerial Meeting (AEMM) and taking part in the 3rd European Union Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum (EU IPMF).
As stated by Wisma Putra on Thursday (Feb 1), Asean and EU Foreign Ministers will be engaging in discussions about the follow-up actions to the Asean-EU Commemorative Summit, which celebrated 45 years of relations in 2022.
The statement indicated that the Foreign Minister will be proposing areas where Asean and the EU can strengthen cooperation, and will also be bringing up developments in the Middle East.
In addition to the AEMM, the Foreign Minister will participate in the 3rd EU IPMF. Hosted by Belgium, this forum aims to further deepen collaboration between the EU and nations in the Indo-Pacific region.
During this forum, the Foreign Minister will join a roundtable discussion on ‘Green Transition: Partnering for a Sustainable Future’. In this session, he will shine a light on Malaysia’s sustainable practices in accordance with the National Energy Transition Roadmap.
Furthermore, the Foreign Minister has bilateral meetings scheduled with several EU counterparts and is expected to meet with the Malaysian diaspora during his visit. – Bernama
