LOS ANGELES, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) — According to authorities, a train transporting military equipment derailed on Monday evening near Colorado Springs in Colorado. Local media reported on Tuesday that at least 13 cars of the train, which was en route from California to Fort Carson, derailed at around 5:50 p.m. local time. Among these cars, five suffered severe damage, as stated by KKTV, a CBS-affiliated TV station in Colorado Springs.
Fort Carson officials have confirmed that the derailed train cars contained military vehicles and other equipment. They further reassured KKTV that no weapons or hazardous materials were onboard the train at the time of the incident.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the derailment. The cause of the incident is currently under investigation, as per the report.
