A British couple operating the channel “Tread the Globe” have confirmed that they are in contact with the police regarding the bribery case investigation.
Chris and Marianne, the couple, posted a statement on Facebook confirming that they have given the unedited video footage of a policeman asking for a bribe to the authorities.
“We can confirm that we have been communicating with the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department of the Royal Malaysia Police.
“We have provided them with the unedited video footage, date, time, and incident location. They have apologised and confirmed that they are investigating this incident fully, and there is no outstanding speeding ticket,” read the statement on Thursday (Feb 1).
The influencers said they would post further updates when available and that the episode would not affect their love for Malaysia.
Three traffic policemen were arrested on Tuesday in connection to a viral video posted by a British couple. The video alleged that a policeman had asked for a bribe to settle a speeding ticket.
Perak police chief Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the three – aged 37 to 42 – from the state’s Traffic Enforcement Investigation Department were arrested to assist with investigations. – Bernama
