IPOH: Tragedy struck when a teenage boy tragically drowned while bathing in a river with three friends at Kampung Orang Asli, Sungai Tanggang, Ulu Kinta near Ipoh. The incident occurred on Sunday (July 9) and has left the community in shock.
The Perak Fire and Rescue department received an urgent distress call at 5 pm, prompting the immediate deployment of firemen from the Tambun Fire and Rescue Station to the scene. They carried out extensive search and rescue operations in an attempt to save the boy’s life.
Despite their efforts, it was the local Orang Asli villagers who eventually found the body of the victim, identified as 18-year-old K. Santosh. Sadly, he had already drowned. Health officials present at the scene later confirmed his death.
The police were subsequently handed over the deceased’s body for further investigation and procedures. The entire operation concluded at 7 pm. The community is mourning the loss of a promising young life. – Bernama
