MUAR: Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin has urged Umno supporters to throw their support behind Pakatan Harapan in the Pulai and Simpang Jeram by-elections instead of the party that seeks to replace them. The Umno vice-president expressed concern that some party supporters and voters were unaware that Barisan Nasional would not be contesting in the two by-elections.
“We acknowledge that there are Barisan and Umno voters who will be looking for our logo,” stated Khaled. “They need to consider who to vote for since Barisan is not contesting this time. Therefore, our election machinery must work diligently to explain to them that we are supporting Pakatan. We must make them understand the reality and encourage them to vote for the candidates we endorse as opposed to those from parties attempting to replace Umno.”
Khaled shared his satisfaction with the responses they have received so far, saying, “Those we have met thus far comprehend the situation and have pledged to vote for the candidates supported by Barisan in Pulai and Simpang Jeram.”
