Two people were lucky to escape unscathed when the lorry they were traveling in veered off the road and collided with a car and a house near Tamparuli on the way to Ranau.

Mohammad Kahar, 31, and Nouvelle Ian Bangkilat, 19, were on the Tamparuli – Ranau road when the accident happened at Pekan Nabalu at around 5am on Thursday (Nov 16).

Kenneth Wilfred, the acting assistant director of operations for the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department, said they received a call about the incident at 5.03am and dispatched a team from the Tuaran fire station.

“The two victims involved in the accident were helped out of the lorry before they were handed over to medical officials at the scene for further action,” he said in a statement.

He also mentioned that apart from damages to property, no other injuries were reported in this incident.

“Operations ceased at 6.29am,” said Kenneth.
