KYIV (Reuters) – An attack by Russian missiles overnight resulted in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to several others at a vegetable oil plant in the Poltava region of central Ukraine, according to Governor Dmytro Lunin and a presidential official on Monday.
Lunin provided details on the Telegram messaging app, stating that two people were killed, two were hospitalized with minor injuries, and the whereabouts of two others remain unknown as a result of the hostile attack. However, he did not elaborate on the exact nature of the industrial facility that was targeted.
Andriy Yermak, Ukraine’s presidential chief of staff, revealed on Telegram that the missiles hit a vegetable oil factory in the Myrhorod district, resulting in two fatalities and five injuries. Yermak mentioned that the individuals affected were working the night shift. He also shared photographs depicting tankers consumed by flames and the demolished metal structures of the plant.
The Ukrainian military confirmed that Russia fired four missiles from the Black Sea during the night, with two of them successfully intercepted. Additionally, the military reported missile strikes in the Kryvyi Rih region of central Ukraine. However, local authorities did not mention any casualties, although they did note damage to several private residences.
