    Two men charged with drug trafficking

    IPOH: Two men have been charged with trafficking over 400kg of drugs at the Magistrate’s Court here.

    Choong Boon Wah and Seng Chung Leong, both 44, were jointly charged with four counts of trafficking 413.826kg of nimetazepam at a house in Jalan Sri Klebang, Chemor on Aug 15.

    They were charged under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and can be punished under Section 39B (2) of the same law, and read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code. No plea was recorded.

    If convicted, they will face a death sentence or life imprisonment with a minimum of 12 rotans.

    The charge was read in Mandarin here on Friday (Aug 25) before Magistrate S. Punitha, who fixed Nov 16, for mention pending a chemist report.

    According to the charge sheet, the offence was committed at 9.15am and the drugs were found in different areas of the house.

    Deputy public prosecutor Nurul Hidayu Zakaria prosecuted and both accused were represented by lawyer Asyraaf Abu Bakar Hamzah.

    At a separate court, both the accused pleaded not guilty to having in possession two imitation guns with magazines.

    They claimed trial after the charge was read jointly in Mandarin before Magistrate Jesseca Daimis.

    Both the accused face a maximum one-year jail sentence or fine not exceeding RM5,000, or both, upon conviction under Section 36(1) of the Arms Act 1960.

    According to the charge sheet, both of them had two imitation guns and two magazines in the same house on the same date.

    Asyraf requested the court that this case be heard on Nov 16, as well.

    However, Jessica said since they were waiting for documents to be submitted, it could be fixed earlier.

    She then set Oct 6, for the case mentioned.

    DPP Nur Aqilah Syaza Ariffin prosecuted.

    On Aug 18, it was reported that some RM30mil worth of Eramin 5 pills were seized by the police during a raid at a bungalow-turned-drug laboratory in Chemor.

    Bukit Aman Narcotic Crime Investigation Department director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Kamarudin Md Din said the drugs could be used by 2.2 million users.
