In the Ranau district of Sabah, two individuals sustained injuries when their vehicle plunged into a 15-meter-deep ravine. The incident took place on Friday (Oct 27) at approximately 6.30pm.
The victims, both a man and a woman, were trapped inside the car following the accident, which occurred along Jalan Nalapak Ranau. The Sabah Fire and Rescue Department’s assistant director of operations, Hamsa Isnurdini, reported that they were alerted to the incident at 6.54pm and promptly dispatched a team to provide assistance.
According to Hamsa, the victim informed them that he had lost control of the vehicle, causing it to skid off the road and into the ravine. Consequently, both occupants became trapped in their seats. Upon arrival, the rescue officials observed the vehicle below the ravine and successfully extricated both victims from the car with caution.
After being rescued, the victims received preliminary medical attention before being transported to the hospital for further treatment.
The operation concluded at 8.20pm once all potential hazards had been eliminated, Hamsa added.
