Malaysian badminton player Ng Tze Yong’s impressive performance in the French Open came to an end as he was eliminated in the semi-finals in Rennes on Saturday (Oct 28).
Tze Yong, who was not seeded in the tournament, faced a tough challenge against Li Shifeng from China, the Asian Games champion. He was unable to secure a victory, losing the match with a score of 17-21, 12-21 in a duration of 47 minutes.
Earlier, Tze Yong, ranked 18th in the world, made it to his first super 500 final at the Arctic Open in Vantaa, Finland. However, he was defeated by his fellow countryman Lee Zii Jia in the final.
In the Denmark Open held in Odense the previous week, Tze Yong faced another Chinese shuttler, Lu Guangzu, and was eliminated in the second round.
Tze Yong has also registered for the Hylo Open, taking place in Saarbrucken, Germany. He is the fourth seed in the tournament, which commences on Tuesday (Oct 31).
