NEW YORK, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) — The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Tuesday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, lost 0.44 percent to 101.441 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro was up to 1.1121 U.S. dollars from 1.1081 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound advanced to 1.3030 U.S. dollars from 1.2992 U.S. dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 145.38 Japanese yen, lower than 146.67 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was down to 0.8555 Swiss francs from 0.8627 Swiss francs, and it fell to 1.3622 Canadian dollars from 1.3634 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar lost to 10.2066 Swedish kronor from 10.3145 Swedish kronor.
