NEW YORK, July 18 (Xinhua) — The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Thursday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, went up 0.41 percent to 104.173 at 3:00 p.m. local time (1900 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro lost to 1.0899 dollars from 1.0937 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound declined to 1.2948 dollars from 1.3006 U.S. dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 157.29 Japanese yen, higher than 156.10 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar increased to 0.8871 Swiss francs from 0.8836 Swiss francs, and it rose to 1.3711 Canadian dollars from 1.3690 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar advanced to 10.6078 Swedish Kronor from 10.5467 Swedish Kronor.
