NEW YORK, July 23 (Xinhua) — The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Tuesday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, went up 0.13 percent to 104.451 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro dropped to 1.0852 U.S. dollars from 1.0890 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound lost to 1.2904 U.S. dollars from 1.2925 U.S. dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 155.63 Japanese yen, lower than 157.07 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar advanced to 0.8914 Swiss francs from 0.8896 Swiss francs, and it rose to 1.3775 Canadian dollars from 1.3752 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar increased to 10.7610 Swedish kronor from 10.7249 Swedish kronor.
