NEW YORK, July 9 (Xinhua) — U.S. stocks ended mixed on Tuesday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 52.82 points, or 0.13 percent, to 39,291.97. The S&P 500 added 4.13 points, or 0.07 percent, to 5,576.98. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased by 25.55 points, or 0.14 percent, to 18,429.29.
Seven of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in green, with financials and health leading the gainers by going up 0.65 percent and 0.43 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, materials and energy led the laggards by dropping 1.01 percent and 0.94 percent, respectively.
