According to the latest data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), seasonal influenza activity is on the rise in the United States.
CDC data shows that there have been a minimum of 5.3 million cases of flu, leading to 54,000 hospitalizations and 3,200 deaths so far this season in the United States.
For the week ending Dec. 16, the number of weekly flu hospital admissions continues to climb, with over 9,800 patients being admitted to hospitals with flu.
This season, a total of 14 flu-associated deaths in children have been reported in the country, as reported by the CDC.
The CDC is recommending that everyone aged 6 months and older should receive an annual flu vaccine.
