(Reuters) – The Air Force of Ukraine reported on Monday that 14 out of the 17 drones launched by Russia overnight were destroyed by Ukraine’s air defence systems. Additionally, one Kh-59 cruise missile was also destroyed by the Air Force. The Air Force made this announcement on the Telegram messaging app.
It was also revealed that Russia had launched missiles from S-300 long-range surface-to-air missile systems. However, it was not specified how many missiles were launched or if they managed to hit any targets.
Oleh Synehubov, who is the governor of the Kharkiv region in Ukraine’s northeast, stated on Sunday night that Russia had attacked his region with missiles that were launched from the S-300 systems in Russia’s Belgorod region, which shares a border with Ukraine.
He also mentioned that according to initial assessments, no casualties were reported, but some non-residential buildings suffered damage to their facades. Furthermore, Serhiy Lisak, governor of the Dnipropetrovsk region, revealed that Russia had attacked the city of Pavlohrad in his region with drones. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, but some parts of the city were left without electricity.
It is important to note that the reports of these attacks have not been independently verified by Reuters. Both Russia and Ukraine have escalated their air attacks away from the frontline in recent months with an emphasis on targeting each other’s critical energy, military, and transport infrastructure.
