KIEV, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) — According to a statement from the Finance Ministry on Thursday, Ukraine has obtained the third installment of 900 million U.S. dollars from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) aid program to assist its budget.
The funds, which fall under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF), have been allocated to help Ukraine address priority budgetary expenses and maintain macroeconomic stability during martial law, stated Ukrainian Finance Minister Sergii Marchenko.
Marchenko also noted that “The EFF program will continue to form a solid basis for the development of the economic program of the Ukrainian government on its way to full integration into the European Union.”
In March, the IMF approved a 48-month EFF arrangement for Ukraine worth approximately 15.6 billion dollars to aid the country’s economic recovery.
Since the initiation of the program, the East European country has already secured 4.5 billion dollars from the global lender.
