In remarks broadcast on Saturday, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy of Ukraine issued a warning that the country could face a shortage of air defence missiles if Russia continues its aggressive long-range bombing campaign. This dire statement from the Ukrainian leader comes after weeks of relentless Russian attacks on key infrastructure, towns, and cities using a wide array of missiles and drones.

Zelenskiy expressed serious concerns about the ongoing situation, stating, “If they keep targeting Ukraine at the same pace as they have been in the past month, we may deplete our missile supplies, and our allies are aware of this.” He acknowledged that Ukraine currently has enough air defence stockpiles to manage, but tough decisions are already being made regarding what to prioritize in terms of protection.

Specifically, Zelenskiy emphasized the urgent need for Patriot air defence systems. These sophisticated U.S. systems have proven crucial in defending against Russian assaults involving ballistic and hypersonic missiles capable of striking targets within minutes.
