KYIV (Reuters) – Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskiy addressed the nation in his nightly video statement on Sunday, highlighting the significant results achieved by the U.S. Patriot and German IRIS-T defense systems in the face of relentless attacks by Russia over the past week.
Zelenskiy acknowledged the effectiveness of the advanced air defense systems, specifically the Raytheon-built Patriot and Germany’s IRIS-T systems, which have proven to be powerful and highly efficient.
Furthermore, Zelenskiy emphasized that the impact of these defense systems extends beyond Ukraine, as the destruction of Russian missiles showcases the collective security against terrorist threats.
During the past week, Ukraine successfully intercepted a large number of incoming attacks by Russia. This included the interception of 65 missiles of various types and 178 assault drones, including 87 Shaheds.
The President’s statement comes as Ukraine receives international support in its fight against the ongoing aggression. The advanced defense systems provided by the United States and Germany have played a crucial role in countering the attacks.
