KYIV (Reuters) – Ukraine’s forces have entrenched themselves on the outskirts of Urozhaine after successfully recapturing the settlement in the Donetsk region from Russian forces, according to Ukraine’s Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar.
“Urozhaine has been liberated,” Maliar announced on the Telegram messaging app. “Our defenders have now established their positions on the outskirts of the town.”
At present, Reuters is unable to independently verify this report. There has been no immediate response from Russia regarding this development.
In the past few days, intense clashes have erupted in and around Urozhaine and Staromaiorske, both located approximately 60 miles southwest of the Russian-controlled city of Donetsk.
