In Tanzania, a new project has been initiated by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in collaboration with a Saudi Arabian non-governmental organization (NGO) with the aim of supporting culture-related vocational education and training. The project, according to a statement from UNESCO, seeks to promote community-based development through culture-related technical and vocational education and training, as well as employment in Tanzania.
The project, which is scheduled to run from 2023 to 2025, is designed to facilitate the inclusive and sustainable development of the cultural and creative sector of Tanzania by improving access to culture-related education and training. Princess Lamia Bint Majid Al Saud, the secretary general of Alwaleed Philanthropies, the Saudi Arabian NGO, emphasized the importance of the project in promoting the human dimension, fostering community and cross-generational interaction, and facilitating mutual learning and progress.
Tanzania’s Zanzibari minister of Information, Youth, Culture and Sports, Tabia Maulid Mwita, also stressed the significance of the project, stating that it sets forth on a path leading to job creation, poverty alleviation, and community development through culture-centered education and vocational training.
