SHAH ALAM: The National Unity Ministry supports the resolution made at the National History and Unity Convention 2024 in finding the best methods to deal with unity-related issues and challenges in the country.

Its secretary-general, Datuk Seri Hasnol Zam Zam Ahmad, said recommendations and views from the convention would be brought to the National Unity Advisory Council (MPPN) for the ministry’s action plan on unity-related issues and challenges, and national unification efforts from various angles.

“I also hope to be able to review the proposals towards strengthening and increasing national unity and national integration by looking at what has happened in the history of the country, what was decided together by previous leaders, and what was proposed by the members of the convention panel,” he said.

He said this at the closing of the convention, which is themed “Menelusuri Sejarah: Membina Perpaduan Negara” (Tracing History: Building National Unity) on Friday (Sept 20).

Also present was Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Dr Johari Abdul.

Earlier, National Archives director-general Datuk Jaafar Sidek Abdul Rahman presented 10 resolutions of the convention, which included proposals to create a National Historians’ Council as an authoritative body, in addition to introducing a code of ethics for elected representatives so that leaders have more integrity and responsibility.

The resolution also sought the provision of continuous allocations to the National Archives to bring back historical materials from abroad and the reintroduction of the Vision School concept to strengthen the unity of the people. – Bernama
