The state Umno Youth chief, Noor Azleen Ambros, has confirmed that all 11 Umno polling district centres in Simpang Jeram will continue to protect the people from negative influences that may disrupt the unity of Bangsa Johor. He also stated that the Umno and Barisan Nasional election machinery in the Bakri parliamentary constituency and northern parts of the state are supporting unity government candidate Nazri Abdul Rahman.
In a meeting held in Bakri on September 4, the election machinery agreed to make every effort to gain support from the locals in Simpang Jeram. Noor Azleen pledged that they will continue their efforts to approach and persuade the people with the help of their election machinery from 11 district centres until polling day on September 9. He also emphasized their commitment to protect Johor from outside influence that might attempt to undermine the unity of Bangsa Johor, regardless of their political allegiance.
Noor Azleen, who is also the Johor Barisan Youth chief, added that the values of Bangsa Johor togetherness and the Islamic principles taught at religious schools in the state will be strictly upheld. He stressed that they are not confined to any political party’s interpretation of Islamic teachings.
The agreement reached during the meeting also involved the representation of Simpang Jeram by individuals from the unity government to ensure the realization of the Maju Johor agenda introduced by Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi. Noor Azleen pointed out that the people of Johor are capable of rational thinking in choosing leaders based on their achievements and performance, rather than being swayed by sentiment and perception.
The by-elections for the Simpang Jeram state seat and Pulai parliamentary seat were called following the passing of Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub on July 23. Salahuddin served as the elected representative for the seats and held positions as the Amanah deputy president and domestic trade and cost of living minister.
