The United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (Upko) has announced that its 2023 convention will take place on Saturday, September 9th, at Sepanggar community hall in Kota Kinabalu. The event is expected to draw 450 delegates from across Sabah and various districts of Perak. Upko has also extended special invitations to the Sabah component parties of Pakatan Harapan to attend and participate in the conference. The convention will focus on the theme of ‘Building Upko’.
According to Upko information chief Dr Peter Jr Naintin, this year’s convention will include a townhall session a day prior to the main event. The session will be dedicated to the Upko top leadership lineup, which comprises supreme council members, women wing exco, youth exco, Generasi Muda exco, and information officers from divisions.
The convention will feature three main papers. The first paper, titled ‘Strengthen Upko Party’, will be presented by deputy party president Datuk Donald P. Mojuntin. Honorary president Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau will present a paper on Malaysia Agreement 1963, and party advisory council chairman Tan Sri Bernard G Dompok will share a paper entitled ‘Upko Then and Now’.
The convention will conclude with a closing speech delivered by party president Datuk Ewon Benedick. Following the conclusion of the convention, there will be a dinner for the delegates at the same hall.
