According to a statement released by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani’s office on Saturday, a total of sixteen people, including civilians, were killed in U.S. airstrikes on pro-Iran targets in Iraq. Additionally, twenty-five individuals were injured in the attacks.
The statement from the Prime Minister’s office condemned the airstrikes, describing them as a “new aggression against Iraq’s sovereignty”. Furthermore, it denied claims that the Baghdad government had coordinated the strikes with the United States beforehand, dismissing such assertions as “lies”.
The statement also criticized the presence of the U.S.-led military coalition in the region, stating that it “has become a reason for threatening security and stability in Iraq” and has served as a justification for involving Iraq in regional and international conflicts.
