(Reuters) – According to the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), two missiles were intercepted by the United States on Saturday as they were targeting a container ship in the southern Red Sea. The missiles were launched from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen.
The container ship, which is Singapore-flagged and Denmark-owned/operated, reported being hit by a missile. In response, the USS Gravely and USS Laboon rushed to the ship, as stated by CENTCOM in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
CENTCOM also confirmed that the vessel is still seaworthy and there have been no reported injuries as a result of the attack.
