According to the U.S. military, the United States carried out additional strikes on Thursday targeting two Houthi anti-ship missiles that were being prepared to launch into the Red Sea and posed an “imminent threat” to shipping and U.S. Navy vessels in the region. The strikes were conducted by U.S. Central Command forces.
During a briefing aboard Air Force One, White House national security spokesman John Kirby stated that the latest strikes were similar to those carried out on Wednesday, which targeted Houthi missiles in the southern Red Sea that were also prepared to fire.
Prior to boarding Air Force One, President Biden told reporters that even though the air strikes may not stop the Houthi attacks, they would continue.
The recent U.S. strikes come after the U.S. added Yemen-based Houthi rebels back to the list of terrorist groups.
