TASHKENT, July 18 (Xinhua) — Uzbekistan’s GDP grew by 6.4 percent in the first six months of this year, in comparison with the same period last year, according to the latest official press service.
In the first half of 2024, the gross domestic product grew by 6.4 percent — the industry sector grew by 7.8 percent, construction by 10.1 percent, services by 12.9 percent, and agriculture by 3.8 percent, the release quoted a video conference chaired by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Wednesday to analyze the past economic growth and discuss priority tasks for the rest of the year.
It was noted that in the first half of this year, Uzbekistan attracted foreign investments of 15.5 billion U.S. dollars.
According to the state statistics agency, Uzbekistan’s GDP reached approximately 90.8 billion dollars in 2023, a 6 percent rise over 2022.
